5Updated review...now I've tried out 3 of these pots!
By Chandler
UPDATE: I think a wire may have come loose in my first pot. I have now used my replacement pot for 6 hours and it worked great...I've used it often--and the pot I gave as a gift is working great. So, in spite of the fact I had a glitch in the first pot I bought, all is working great now and I love this pot...so with Amazon's free exchange for a new pot, and new pots working perfectly, I have raised my review rating. I am glad I didn't give up on it...

MY ORIGINAL REVIEW:
The concept behind this is wonderful; each side holds 16 oz of dip. That's a decent sized jar if you buy a dip or 2 cups worth if you make your own on each side, it takes up little counter space and you can do 2 dips at a time for your quests in one small pot. I did a spinach artichoke dip and a jalapeno bean dip and it kept everything hot for almost 4 hours. I was in love.

Here's the thing...the instructions suggested to only warm dips for 4 hours--it failed, however, to say w hy. I figured that meant because that's the time window when they can start not being a healthy choice to eat anymore via bacteria. I turned it off after 4 hours. But apparently they meant to say 3 hours and 50 minutes. Why? It didn't work the next day when I tried to reheat some leftovers. Apparently the coils or wiring or something overheats perhaps at this time window?

I'm torn about this crock pot...It has this wonderful thick ceramic base that you remove easily for washing, it holds just the perfect amount and you can refill it easily as guests serve themselves and, once it's hot, it heats up any added dips quickly, it's an ideal size so you need to put very little in in comparison to a big wide crockpot that a 16 oz jar of dip would just barely cover the bottom of...
BUT it did take quite awhle initially to heat up as compared to a chafing dish (but no chafing dish is small and two-sided that I can find either) AND the BIG BUT...I got one use out of it .

I liked it enough that I exchanged it rather than returning it and I already had one bought as a gift to give to someone else because I thought this and 2 dips in a gift bag was a wonderful gift that doesn't break the bank so I will update this as to how the next one works. Fortunately, Amazon returned it with no hassell...Let's hope my first pot was merely a lemon. I have my fingers crossed.

5Very handy item
By Kathryn Mcdow
I got this to use for Christmas dinner and it's great!! Just the right size for dips and can be used for one or two different dips. Keeps the dip just the right temperature. I'm very pleased.

5Best that I've found for dips
By John Gordon
I looked around quite a bit before deciding to buy this for my brother's birthday present. I also bought a dip cookbook. This has worked out very well, the product is great!
